Gabrielle Vincent
Previous to this role, Gabrielle worked at Tempo Dance Festival as Senior Producer and at Basement Theatre as Programming Director. Gabrielle’s curation practice is focused on community-centred projects that authentically connect with audiences.
What does leadership look like to you?
For me, strong leadership is generous and gentle. It is about being a great listener, communicator and collaborator, creating a space where a person can bring their whole self to the conversation. There is a supreme power in connection; it enables us to achieve more than we ever could on our own. It supports actions that are genuine and surprising.
How does your community show up in your practice?
I see my role as creating space and context for my favourite people – artists. What excites me about the process of curation is the opportunity to support collaborations between artists and watch a community build around a work or a programme of work. The audience is also a huge community of focus for me, I find joy in treading the line between serving artists and serving audiences and facilitating unique and surprising connections through ideas.
