What does leadership look like to you?

Leadership, to me, is living the whakatauki ‘Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini’. It’s about being a guiding force that inspires and empowers others to reach their full potential. It’s the ability to leverage collective strengths, fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual support. A leader should lead by example, demonstrating empathy, clear communication, and a commitment to shared goals. Importantly, leadership means recognising that true success is measured not by personal achievements but by the growth and achievements of the team and community.

How does your community show up in your practice?

Community and people is at the heart of everything I do and what makes me tick. Life is all about the relationships we build and the connections we foster. Through my current role I actively engage with and contribute to my community by facilitating collaborations and connection, ensuring opportunities to access audience as well as creating spaces for collective action. Whether it’s connecting organisations during a crisis or advocating for sustainability and accessibility in the arts, I strive to make a positive impact on the well-being and interconnectedness of my community.
