Creative Insights Series
Creative Insights is a series of free online sessions presented by Auckland Council and Te Taumata Toi-a-Iwi which aim to make creative sector research more accessible, relatable, and relevant. The webinars had over 150 registrations with participants from a range of backgrounds attending - from researchers to funding advisors to creative practitioners.

Creative Insights #1 (November 21, 2024)
In this first webinar, we had an informative and insightful conversation exploring Aucklanders and the Arts 2023 with independent research and evaluation agency, Verian, and our panel of wonderful speakers - Alison Taylor (Chief Executive, Te Taumata Toi-a-Iwi), Elizabeth Beale (Co-Manager Policy and Performance, Creative New Zealand), and Chloe Harwood (Senior Policy Advisor, Community Policy and Policy Development Hub, Auckland Council).

Creative Insights #2 (February 13, 2025)
In this second webinar, we engaged in some really interesting and important conversations around the Mapping the Auckland Funding Ecosystem for Ngā Toi – Culture, Creativity and the Arts research. Independent research and evaluation agency, Dovetail (who led the research) presented the key investment patterns, trends and outcome areas from this research.
We also heard from our panel of wonderful speakers - Emily Trent (Head of Arts and Culture, Auckland Council), Emily Fabling (Deputy Secretary | Policy, Performance & Insights, Manatū Taonga Ministry for Culture and Heritage), and Amanda Hereaka (Manager Practice and Pathways, Creative New Zealand).

Creative Insights #3 (February 27, 2025)
In our third and final webinar, we focussed on the Creative Sector Funding Case Study Insights - a piece of research that explores funding intersections and interrelationships in the creative sector. Independent research and insights agency Two Kererū, who undertook the research, presented the key insights and challenges within the current funding ecosystem that surfaced during the interviews.
Following the presentation, our panel of wonderful speakers - Amber Curreen (Te Pou Theatre), Debs McSmith (Creative New Zealand), and Kat Dawnier (Two Kererū) - discussed opportunities for future collaboration across the creative sector.
